St. Louis Catholic School Dress Code
The traditions of a Catholic education provide a standard for our students, which foster an environment conducive to learning, respective behavior, and school pride. A school uniform assures equality in dress and reduces the cost of clothing during your child’s rapid stages of growth. As the term uniform connotes, the dress must be standard.
Parents are expected to be the primary monitors of the uniform policy. Please help us by ensuring your child is in uniform each day.

Items that require purchase from Flynn O’Hara include:
Boys in 3K -5th grade - will be required to wear a white button-down shirt, long or short sleeves, for Mass with the school logo purchased from Flynn O’Hara.
Navy blue slacks and a navy-blue tie may be purchased anywhere.3K and 4K girls - may purchase the new plaid baby doll dress or wear the current jumper and round collar Peter Pan Blouse.
Kinder– 2nd grade girls need the blue plaid V-front jumper and round collar Peter Pan blouse.
3rd- 5th grade girls - will still wear the same plaid skirt but may either wear the current sailor (Middy) blouse and tie or purchase the new Overblouse, (adult sizes are available for the Overblouse and are slightly longer than the youth sizes) and the new skinny plaid tie. Either uniform will be acceptable for Mass next year.
Other uniform items may be purchased from other retailers, but the garment must be identical to the garments offered by Flynn O’Hara.
SLCS Comet Closet - Uniform Room
Gently used uniforms may be donated to the SLCS Comet Closet. These articles can then be purchased for $1.00 apiece. The types of articles, quantities, and sizes are limited to the donations received. Please contact the office for access to the room.
School Logo Items
If desired, the school logo may be embellished onto sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, and other items by Gifts and Stuff in Castroville.

Shorts, skirt, and skorts must be an appropriate length, ideally no shorter than 2 inches from the knee

Leggings may NOT be worn as pants.

Must be closed toe
Athletic shoes, saddle shoes, Mary Janes, penny loafers, boat shoes, oxfords are acceptable

Must have non-marking rubber soles and be safe for P.E.
NO flip-flops, Crocs®, sandals, or cowboy boots. No light-up or skate-type shoes.
Students in 3K and 4K: Velcro-closing or tieless laces
Outerwear
Navy blue or black sweater, cardigan, sweatshirt, windbreaker, or another light jacket
Heavy coats must be solid navy blue or black

Free Dress Days
Opportunities to earn free dress days can be earned during the year and are announced in advance.
May be redeemed only on Mondays unless otherwise noted.
- Slacks, jeans, or shorts
- No sleeveless shirts
- Cut-off, spandex or Lycra gym shorts, wind shorts, and shorts / pants / jeans with holes or tears are not acceptable.
- No baggy clothing
- SLCS shoe policy applies on free dress days
- Slacks, jeans, dress, skirt, or shorts, ideally no more than 2 inches above the knee
- Sleeveless shirt straps must be at least 2 inches wide
- Halter tops, strapless tops, spaghetti straps, midriff tops, cut-offs, spandex or Lycra gym shorts, form-fitting bicycle shorts, wind shorts, and shorts / pants / jeans with holes or tears are not acceptable.
- No baggy clothing
