When our oldest son was a fifth grader, the teachers had high expectations for his class. Now as a high school freshman, he has grown into a wonderful young man and we believe his foundation at St. Louis has contributed to his beliefs, values and blessings.

VISION
St. Louis Catholic School prepares young people for the future to meet the challenges of life as Christians involved in community service, faith and academic excellence.

MISSION
Our school provides a Catholic environment committed to educate the whole child implementing the home as their first educators. As partners in education, we “share the spirit” of Jesus Christ, provide Christian acts of service and develop leaders for the future by ministering to the whole child.

PHILOSOPHY
The goal of Catholic education is to prepare young people for the future and to help them meet the challenges of life as Christians. St. Louis Catholic School educates children in a Christian environment that is “God – Centered.”
Pastor, parents, principal, teachers, staff and students are all involved in an ongoing process of building the Body of Christ. The school ministers to the whole child, complementing the home in helping each child to develop their full potential (spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically). In harmony with our Catholic faith, each child will grow in faith, service and excellence.

CREED (What we believe)
1. Present an understanding of the human need for God based on revelation and faith. (CCC: #830-831)
Rationale: For faith to be living, conscious and active, it is important for students to understand the human desire for God.

2. Read, understand, interpret and apply Scripture to life. (CCC #51-53; 131)
Rationale: Scripture as a vehicle of revelation, enables Catholics to discover truth about God, the world and oneself. As a reflection of the community’s experience of God, Scripture gives meaning to prayer, unites values to knowledge and inspires people to hope.

3. Illustrate a basic understanding of doctrine and dogma in light of the creed. (CCC: #3)
Rationale: Doctrine and dogmas of the Catholic faith, as vehicles of revelation, are essential foundations for life within the Catholic community.

4. Recognize the Trinity as God (CCC: 232-260)
Rationale: Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith.

5. Illustrate a basic understanding of Church (CCC: #4; 787-789; 830-831)
Rationale: Our understanding of God and our identity as Church develops through history. The Church, the Body of Christ, is a reflection of the active and continuing presence of God.

6. Demonstrates an appreciation for faith community as the primary way we come to know God. (CCC: #1878-1879)
Rationale: A relationship with God is not merely a private affair. Along with Scripture, prayer and good teaching, a dynamic faith community is essential to the spiritual formation of its members.

7. Exercise responsible stewardship for the gift of creation. (CCC: #2415)
Rationale:Creation is a gift from God for all generations. It is the Catholic’s responsibility to respect all creation, to share time, talent, and treasure, and to preserve the gift for the future.

SACRAMENTS (How We Celebrate)
8. Demonstrate the importance of sacraments, with an emphasis on the centrality of the Eucharist in the life of Catholics. (CCC: #1101, 1112, 1118; 1146, 1164; 1167; 1189; 1324)
Rationale: Persons encounter God in the sacraments. The sacraments, most centrally the Eucharist, are the source and strength of the Catholic community and are essential to the life of the Church and members of the Church.
